Runners Ready for the 30th Annual 10K Community Run and Fun Walk
On Sunday October 9th, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation will host the 30th Annual 10K Community Run and Fun Walk. Hundreds of runners and walkers are expected to attend the race. Restoration’s 10K is one of the premier 10K’s held in New York City and welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels. Last year’s race attracted over 650 participants from the tri-state region.
The top three 2010 male runners were:

“Restoration’s 10K Community Run and Fun Walk is a New York tradition with a distinct neighborhood feel, celebrating health and wellness while showcasing Bedford Stuyvesant’s historic brownstones,” described Tracey Capers, Restoration’s Executive Vice President for Programs and Organizational Development."
The 10K Community Run and Fun Walk will be hosted this year by News 12’s Alecia Reid. Notably, the race will introduce the first ever Team Restoration, Restoration’s ING NYC Marathon team which will be running the 10K as a warm up to their debut in November.
The run/walk will start at Restoration Plaza and square off through the Bed Stuy Community with cheering fans and water stops along the way at the intersections of Bedford Avenue, Gates Avenue passing through Tompkins Park toward Willoughby Avenue turning down Stuyvesant at Quincy Street, then back towards Putnam Avenue and down unto Macon Street reaching the corner at Malcolm X then returning back towards Mcdonough towards Fulton Street and finishing at Herkimer and York Street.
Race Day Schedule is as follows:
8:00 registration
9:00 Free Kiddy for Children Ages 2-8
9:30 warm up
10:00 race begins
10:40-11:30 Congratulate runners at finish line and Post Race Party (Music, Refreshments, Vendors and Information)
11:30 Awards Ceremony
Registration for the race is $30 and can be completed online at www.restorationplaza.org or directly preceding the event at Restoration Plaza starting at 8am.
A post-race party with music and refreshments will be held at Restoration Plaza directly following the race.
The first, second and third place male and female finishers receive trophies in each of the following age categories14-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 66-69, 70 and over.. The top male and female winners will receive the Robert E. Thomas Memorial Award $500, $250, and $150 in cash prizes will be given to the top 3 male and female runners. $500, $250, and $150 in cash prizes will be given to
the top 3 male and female runners.
