The oldest community development corporation in the country, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation held its 28th Annual 10k run and fun walk this past Sunday October 11th. This fun filled day had a turnout of 450+ runners and walkers ranging from the age of 10 to 78. This was a wonderful sight to see considering that during the past couple of years only about 100 to 150 runners participated. Many of the runners/walkers came out as a team to support each other like the YMCA, Brownstoners of Bed-Stuy, Foodtown and much more. Many of the runners came out to warm up for the marathon in November, and others just came out for recreational fun. The top female and male to complete the entire scenic route was Kirt Joseph (38 years old) with a time of 33:10.24 and Sarah Scott (32 years old) with a time of 44:23.46. The top five males to run were Kirt Joseph, Jesse Horst (33:19.81), Gideon Mornix (34:22.68), Manuel Plascincia (35:03.84), and Patrick Stewart( 35.27.68). Likewise, the top five females to run were Sarah Scott, Rebecca Rosenberg-Beran( 45:37.87) , Cinthya Sandoval ( 46:29.84), Mishka Vertin (46:44.11), and Ariel Buda-Levin( 47.00.02). Runners, walkers and volunteers left in high spirits and eager to come back again next year. Save the date for next year’s race:
October, 10, 2010.
