Friday, August 7, 2009
Restoration Center for Arts and Culture's Youth Arts Academy ( YAA) offers quality instruction to youth ages 3 to 18 in dance, theater, and African drumming. Over the course of two semesters, classes are offered at the Academy after school and all day on Saturdays. Through its Arts-In-Action program, YAA also provides arts instruction and professional development workshops in theater dance, and music to an average of 500 to 1000 students attending Brooklyn-based public schools. For students interested in pursuing dance professionally, YAA offers an intense, multi-genre curriculum in dance. We also offer multi-disciplinary packages consisting of three classes for comprehensive arts instruction.

For those already proficient in dance performance, Restoration has its youth dance company who are the dance ambassadors for the Center for Arts and Culture’s (CAC) Youth Art Academy. The Restoration Dance Theater Company (RDTC) consists of young aspiring dancer whose eclectic repertoire reflects traditional African, Dunham, ballet, modern, jazz, tap and contemporary dance styles. Members receive intensive training year round working with outstanding instructors and cheoreographers. The company has had performance opportunities at such venues as Lincoln Center Our of Doors, World Financial Center, New Jersey Performing Art Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, United Nations, Museum of Natural History, and New York Aquarium, to name a few. Many of YAA’s students are accepted into the most coveted performing arts schools in New York City.
