Commercial Revitalization

Restoration is deeply committed to the physical and economic revitalization of the Bed-Stuy Gateway Business District. The Bed-Stuy Gateway Business District - encompassing Fulton Street from Franklin Avenue to Marcus Garvey Boulevard, and Nostrand Avenue from Halsey Street to Atlantic Avenue) is Bedford-Stuyvesant's primary shopping and commercial district. Restoration Plaza lies at the heart of this major shopping hub. Restoration partners closely with the local business community to promote local business, increase the diversity of retail offerings, and improve the physical appearance of storefronts and streetscape.

After four years of tireless organizing, The Fulton Nostrand Avenue Business Improvement District was signed into law in an official public ceremony with Mayor Bloomberg and local business leaders in early May. With a budget of $675,000, more than double the average BID budget, the Bed Stuy Gateway BID will provide district-wide sanitation, maintenance, security, marketing and promotion, landscaping, beautification and day-to-day administration services for the business district. As managing agent, Restoration oversees the operations of the BID, which became operational October 2009.
