It is at this time we will join in a long overdue celebration to an iconic cultural hero, and take the opportunity to express our appreciation for this incomparable artist and arts administrator:

Theodore "Teddy" Gunn

We will acknowledge his dedication to fostering a greater appreciation for the impact of the arts in communities such as Harlem and Bedford Stuyvesant.

Teddy Gunn has worked with many of the city's most respected institutions. From 1970 to 1994, he was director of the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporations' Center for Art and Culture. He was a founding trustee, acting director and exhibition coordinator at The Studio Museum in Harlem and a member of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts' visiting Committee for Community Programs. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Brooklyn Arts and Cultural Association (BAC), Children's Art Carnival, Washington Heights Arts Show, The Rotunda Gallery, The Brooklyn Masonic Temple, and Cross Section African American & Caribbean Fine Arts Inc.

Join us for this special Teddy Gunn tribute, exhibition and jazz brunch. It is time for those who value how art and culture contribute to community development to pay tribute to Teddy Gunn, who helped spearhead this movement in Central Brooklyn.
