Managing Director, Youth Arts Academy
Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation
seeks a Managing Director for the Youth Arts
Academy, a multidisciplinary arts training and
education program. Currently, through the Youth
Arts Academy Restoration works with some 400
youth ages 3 to 18 on site and another 1000
through Arts in Action programs in area schools.
The Youth Arts Academy is a critical component
of Restoration's Center for Arts and Culture
(CAC), which has a mission to present, promote
and preserve the multicultural arts legacy of
People of African descent and to inform the
artistic development of our community. CAC
endeavors to become the cultural destination of
Central Brooklyn, whereby patrons, artists,
stakeholders, and community can experience a
plethora of diverse artistic offerings through
Restoration's cultural programs and
partnerships. The position of YAA Management
Director provides leadership for the Youth Arts
Academy working in close consultation with the
Artistic Director for the Youth Arts Academy,
Center for Arts and Culture leadership and other
key departments at Restoration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-Formulates policies and planning of overall
operations, including arts education curriculum,
and contract services management.
-Assists with budget preparations, plans fund
raising drives, prepares grant applications and
reports from government agencies or foundations.
-Supervises the day to day operation of on
site YAA classes as well as outside school based
projects. This includes coordinating lesson
plan, schedules and locations with instructors
and securing materials for each class.

-Maintains contact with parents, staff, teaching
artists and YAA Arts in Action sites to plan,
coordinate and consolidate smooth operation of
art programs.
-Prepares and review monthly reports on YAA's on
and off site programs and calendar.
-Monitors student recruitment efforts and
contract services booking in the public schools.
This includes meeting with potential schools and
setting up tailored art programming in
consultation with the Artistic Director.
-Establishes and maintains working relationships
with both parents and teachers participating in
YAA programs.
Must have demonstrated track record in arts
administration and management. Excellent
writing, interpersonal and organizational
