A healthy community
includes a diverse range of housing options
suited to the needs of local residents,
whether seniors, growing families, or people
with limited incomes.
Bedford Stuyvesant has
what it takes – beautiful, historic
brownstones, plenty of rental apartments,
and housing set aside for seniors citizens.
Restoration's goal is
to preserve and add to these assets and
resources, ensuring their quality,
affordability, and value, especially with
regards to homeownership opportunities.
Since 1967, we
developed more than 2000 units of housing
for all segments of the community.
Currently, we are in the process of
arranging for the recapitalization of
housing sites containing more than 600 units
of affordable
apartments for low-income families and
seniors. In addition, we are creating a
pipeline that is likely to add more than 100
units of housing over the next three years.
The new pipeline includes affordable
homeownership and rental units.
Restoration prepares to sell new
homes. Click for here for more information.
Neighborhood Homes Program (NHP):
Restoration is a
designated developer in the Neighborhood
Homes Program (NHP), a funding
partnership designed to promote
homeownership and long-term residency in
resurging communities like Bedford
Stuyvesant.
Participating nonprofit
housing developers are charged with
rehabilitating one- to four-family
properties owned by city and federal
agencies. The
City of
New York
and the US Department of Housing and Urban
Development subsidize construction costs in
order to maintain affordability to potential
buyers.
NHP home prices and
sales are targeted to households earning
between 80% and 165% percent of area median
income, or approximately $48,000 to $98,000.
To date, Restoration
has completed four homes and is in the
process of rehabilitating an additional
seven properties.
We are proud of our first families who
successfully purchased homes through this
program. To hear their stories, please click
