Sabar drumming is the most popular form of traditional drumming in Senegal West Africa. In this class the students discover the basics of technique for Stick and Hand Drumming that is unique to Sabar. The Musical Theatre Workshop is designed for students with a strong interest in the performing arts. Students study acting, singing and dance. This triple threat workshop prepares students to audition for specialized schools as well as the professional arena.

Introduce students to basic Hip Hop dance fundamentals with urban and modern/jazz influences while developing a fun-filled work ethic towards dance. Class begins with warm-up exercises that condition the body for the rigors of this form by developing strength, aerobic stamina, coordination, flexibility, and rhythmic awareness using movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers.

Dunham is a modern dance technique that merges movement from African-Caribbean and African-American social dances with techniques of modern dance and ballet. In this class students will learn about the history and philosophy of Miss Katherine Dunham and her technique.
